PEI Secures More Than $1 Million to Advance Six Arizona Medtech Projects

More than $1 million in combined public and private support will help six Arizona health technology projects move forward through the Partnership for Economic Innovation’s Applied Research Centers. The funding package includes $600,000 secured from the Arizona Commerce Authority, matched by private and other non-state contributions that will support the path from early research to practical healthcare use.

The fifth cohort comprises Prickly Pear Health, ScripGuard, MiiCare, Serenity Neurotechnologies, UnityCare and Cortalis Neuro. Together, their work spans women’s brain health, medication safety, independent living for older adults, migraine treatment, cardiac monitoring and clinical support for deep brain stimulation in epilepsy care. Each team is paired with researchers at Arizona State University, the University of Arizona or Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Arizona.

PEI’s model gives early-stage companies access to funding, research partners, engineering resources and commercialization guidance during one of the most difficult phases of product development. The new cohort builds on a program that has guided more than 35 health technology projects since 2019, strengthening both Arizona’s innovation pipeline and its capacity to develop solutions with real-world health impact.
